Black Widow

Natalia

My daughter’s love for Black Widow, aka Natalia Romanova, sparked this artwork. Inspired by the iconic artistry of Roy Lichtenstein from the 60s pop art era, I delved into this illustration. Lichtenstein’s style felt like the perfect match, with Black Widow making her debut appearance in April 1964, the same year as many of Lichtenstein’s famous pieces. While digitally illustrated by hand, I strived to capture the essence of traditional techniques, even distressing the halftone patterns for that authentic silk screen touch. This piece is a nod to a treasured character and an art movement that left an indelible mark.
